Clear trail corridor, install signs.

Responsible for returning timesheets and data forms to department supervisor in a timely manner.

Volunteer for one or more nights. Pre-registration is required. October 15, 16, 22, 23, & 29 Volunteer hours are: - Friday's from 6-10:30pm;- Saturday's from 5:30-10:30pm.Requirements:Wear old clothes (black or dark colors), you will be given costumes and make up on site. Living Historian Volunteers | On-going Opportunities The Baltimore & Ohio Ellicott City Railroad Station Museum is one of Howard County's Historic Landmarks. Constructed in 1831, it is the oldest railroad station in the United States. The Museum is set to interpret an early to mid-19th century railroad station, with an additional focus on the history of the local community. Volunteering at this site provides an excellent opportunity for volunteers to experience living history and museum interpretation.The museum is looking for living history volunteers to interpret the importance of and the events that happened at the B&O Station Museum during the years 1830-1880. We are looking for both civilian and military living historians. Sample impressions can include Civil War soldiers, business men, civilian ladies and children, workers on the railroad including laborers, telegraph operators, and other professions. Presentations can either be in first or third person and can cover any subjects with connection to either the railroad or the local area in Howard County. Volunteers should have an interest in biking and trail maintenance; be a self-starter and able to follow directions and work with a team.Duties: Under the guidance of Park staff and utilizing hand tools that will be provided, volunteers will assist with routine maintenance tasks of the Mt. Bike Skills Park to include, but not limited to:- Clearing debris- Repairing tread surfaces- Re-shaping turns- Watering and compacting tread- Sweeping tread surfaceTime Commitment: Organized volunteer work days will be scheduled throughout the season April through December.
